How to make Gin & Tonic Jelly Shots: The ultimate party showstopper
Nov 12, 2025
Get ready to create the most talked about party treat of the season! These elegant gin and tonic jellies are guaranteed to have your guests asking for the recipe - and raiding your fridge seconds.
What you'll need
Ingredients:
- 4 gelatine leaves (available at most supermarkets or kitchen supply shops)
- 1 jam jar of flavoured syrup (see our syrup-making guide)
- 125ml of basic gin
- 150ml of regular tonic water
- Fresh lemon juice
- Lemon wedges for a garnish
Equipment:
- 8 x 50ml shot glasses (or an ice cube tray for bite-sized treats)
- Mixing bowl
- Small saucepan
- Jug with pouring spout
- Fine sieve
Let's get started
Step 1: Gather your ingredients. Set yourself up for success by having everything measured and ready to go before you begin. A little preparation makes the process smooth and enjoyable.
Step 2: Prepare the gelatine (or non-animal based alternative). Place the gelatine leaves in a bowl and cover them completely with cold water. Let them soak for about 15 minutes until they're soft and pliable.
Step 3: Warm your syrup. Gently heat your flavoured syrup in a small saucepan until it reaches a gentle simmer, then remove from the heat and let it cool slightly. You want it warm but not boiling hot. Remember, you can use any of our gin kits (infusion bags or spice & botanical kits) to give your syrups flavour.
Step 4: Combine everything. First, squeeze the excess water from your softened gelatine leaves and stir them into the warm syrup until completely dissolved. Then add your gin, tonic water and a generous squeeze of fresh lemon juice. Give everything a good stir, then strain the mixture through a fine sieve into a jug for a beautifully smooth finish. Simply skim off any foam that appears on top.
Step 5: Set and serve. Pour your mixture into 8 shot glasses (or your chosen moulds) and refrigerate for 4-5 hours until perfectly set with that signature jelly wobble. When you're ready to serve, top each jelly with an elegant lemon wedge garnish or indeed, anything that you think screams 'party'.
