Gin based cocktail recipes

Gin Fizz / Tom Collins

This refreshing, bubbly cocktail is a timeless favourite. The simple recipe lets the flavours of your infused gin and syrup shine.

  • Ingredients: 2 parts gin, 1 ¾ parts fresh lemon juice, 1 part homemade spiced syrup, and soda water. Garnish with a lemon peel.
  • Directions: Combine gin, lemon juice, and syrup in your shaker with ice. Shake well and strain into a glass. Top with a splash of soda water and garnish with a twist of lemon peel.
  • Variations: For a fancier touch, top with sparkling wine instead of soda water to create a Diamond Fizz. Or, for a unique twist, add a splash of crème de menthe for a Green Fizz.

Rose & Pink Peppercorn Gin Sour

A perfect blend of sweet, tart, and herbal notes, this cocktail is as beautiful as it is delicious.

  • Ingredients: 2 parts gin, 1 ¾ parts fresh lemon juice, ½ part homemade rose & pink peppercorn syrup, and 1 egg white (optional, for a frothy top).
  • Directions: If using an egg white, shake all ingredients vigorously without ice first to create a good froth. Then, add ice and shake again until chilled. Strain into a glass and garnish with a fresh strawberry and basil leaf. (No egg white? Just add all the ingredients with ice into your shaker before straining and serving as above)
  • Variations: Feel free to use any flavoured syrup you’ve made to experiment with different tastes.

French 75

Elegant and celebratory, the French 75 is a simple yet sophisticated cocktail that is perfect for any special occasion.

  • Ingredients: 2 parts gin, 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice, 1 tablespoon of your homemade fennel or ginger syrup, and chilled champagne.
  • Directions: In a shaker, combine gin, lemon juice, and syrup with ice. Shake well and strain the mixture into a champagne flute. Top with chilled champagne and garnish with a strip of lemon zest.
  • Variations: This cocktail is incredibly adaptable. You can use a simple sugar syrup (see our other recipes for spirit basics on that) instead of a flavoured one, and it also works beautifully with vodka, brandy, or whisky instead of gin.

The Martini (flavoured syrup edition)

This is a modern, sweeter take on a true classic. By replacing vermouth with a flavoured syrup made with your Natural and Noble botanical kits, you can transform the drink into a perfect showcase for your homemade creations.

  • Ingredients: 2 parts gin, ½ part of a flavoured syrup from your Natural and Noble Spice & Botanical kit.
  • Directions: To make the perfect Martini, you have a choice: stirred or shaken. Stirred with ice will keep it clear and silky, while shaken (a la James Bond) with ice will make it colder and slightly cloudy. Simply stir or shake your gin and syrup with ice until well-chilled, then strain into a chilled Martini glass. Garnish as desired.
  • Variations: The beauty of this recipe is the variety. Use an orange syrup for a citrus-forward Martini, a fennel seed syrup for an aromatic twist, or a rose syrup for a sweet, fruity cocktail.
